Just a quick update before I update this further at a later point.

My job took me to the wild and wonderful Puna District here on the Big Island, where Mother Nature takes her job quite seriously. When she and Madame Pele (the Hawaiian goddess of fire) conspire together, Puna is usually the place that feels the brunt of their devilish schemes.

Yet, both of their work shaping the Puna District into its currently lovely environments truly required a delicate, determined, and deft hand.

I'm only posting two pictures tonight, one of a quiet little road side rest stop on the Red Road, and another of the "new" black sand beach in Kalapana, just 1/4 mile away from where the original black sand beach used to reside before Madame Pele sent a lava flow to cover it up.

There will be more pictures forthcoming. Until then, enjoy.
